Ziviro ("we", "us", "our") operates an agricultural intelligence platform delivered via WhatsApp. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under applicable law.

1. Who We Are

Ziviro is an agricultural intelligence service operating in Zimbabwe and South Africa. We deliver farm advisory, market intelligence, crop health alerts, and livestock disease information through the WhatsApp messaging platform. For data enquiries, contact us at [email protected].

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal and farm data when you register and use Ziviro:

Contact & Identity

• WhatsApp phone number — your primary account identifier
• Name (if provided during onboarding)

Location & Farm Profile

• GPS coordinates — voluntarily shared to link your farm to satellite imagery and weather data
• District and region name — used when precise GPS is not shared
• Farm type (crops, livestock, mixed, or plantation)
• Farm size in hectares
• Herd size and livestock species (cattle, goats, sheep, poultry)
• Crop types grown

Conversation & Activity Data

• All text messages sent to and received from Ziviro via WhatsApp
• Images you share (crops, animals, farm conditions)
• Voice notes you send
• Commodity prices you report to our market intelligence system

Farm Worker Data

• Phone numbers of farm workers you register under your account for task delegation
• Task completion records submitted by your registered farm workers

3. How We Use Your Information

• To deliver your daily 5 AM farm intelligence briefing (weather, prices, crop health, disease alerts)
• To respond to questions through our AI farm advisor
• To analyse farm images and voice notes you share
• To link your farm location to satellite NDVI crop health data and soil diagnostics
• To send seasonal livestock disease alerts relevant to your species and region
• To track commodity price trends using your reported sales data
• To support farm worker task management and check-in features
• To improve our AI models and service quality over time
• To prevent abuse, fraud, and system misuse

4. Third-Party Processors

We share data with the following service providers to operate the platform. All processors are bound by confidentiality agreements:

• Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business API) — message delivery and communication infrastructure. Subject to Meta's own Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic (Claude) — AI processing of your conversation messages and farm advisory responses.
• Google (Gemini) — AI image analysis as a fallback processor for farm and livestock photos.
• Agromonitoring — satellite NDVI crop health data linked to your farm's GPS coordinates.
• iSDA Africa — soil fertility diagnostics linked to your farm location.
• Open Meteo — weather forecasting using your farm's location data.
• Africa's Talking — SMS delivery fallback when WhatsApp is unavailable.
• SAFEX / JFPM — commodity market price data sourced for your region.

5. Data Retention

We retain your farm profile and conversation history for as long as your account is active, or for up to three (3) years after your last interaction with Ziviro. You may request deletion of your data at any time by emailing [email protected] or by sending STOP via WhatsApp, which will deactivate your account.

6. Your Rights

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and Zimbabwe's Data Protection Act, you have the right to:

• Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate or outdated data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict certain processing activities
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) or the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ)

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data in transit and at rest. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel only. However, no internet-based service is completely secure. If you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately.

8. Children

Ziviro is not intended for use by persons under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has registered, contact us and we will delete the account promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via WhatsApp to active users before they take effect. The current version is always available at ziviro.app/privacy.
